Qing Ming Shang He Tu

Zhang Zeduan (1085 – 1145 AD)

Zhang Zeduan was a native of Dongwu (Zhucheng, shandong today) and was an imperial artist of the Northern Song Dynasty.

Zhang Zeduan’s masterpiece creation of Qing Ming Shang He Tu captures the daily life of people from the Song period at the capital city of Bianjing (Kaifeng today), in praise of the clean governance of Emperor Song Huizong’s "Qing Ming", which means "clear and bridge"

His original painting is now kept in the vaults of the Palace Museum in the Forbidden City, Beijing.
